My sister in Christ gave me a prophetic word several months ago and she allowed me to know that God was bringing me into a season of nurturing. I remember staring at her in confusion because I did not know what she was talking about but because I trusted her prophetic voice, I allowed it to slide. Not too long after, the Lord started to deal with me about the very same issue! God allowed me to see how I was so used to being a planter but I never take the time to care for what I plant which is why I witness little to no growth. I want you to know that while planting is important, it is way more important to nurture.
I know some of you reading this may be slightly confused because we are not farmers by occupation so what does it mean to nurture? To nurture is simply the process of caring for and developing everything that God has placed in your hands. I noticed that in my personal life, I eagerly start planting when I see a soil that looks appealing. The truth is that it takes work to maintain a good soil. The beginning of this year, the Lord told me to take blogging more seriously and it was easy to start planting. I started sowing some seeds but when it was time to nurture the seed, I found myself getting weary. For this reason, I decided to switch to Youtube because it was something new and this will be yet another seed that I would be planting. I noticed that in my personal life, I had a lot of abandoned projects. I had multiple spoken word pieces that were unfinished, I had various books that I started reading then stopped halfway. For a long time, writing my book was just another unfinished project. While I knew that I wanted to finish my book, the desire to finish it soon faded away.
I have been in a season of nurturing lately and I have discovered the great power that lies in being a nurturer. I am discovering that it is not enough to plant the seed of the Word of God in the lives of others but I must intentionally nurture the seed by praying, fasting and spending quality time with those I am called to. The Lord is an author and finisher so it is important that we nurture our God given visions till they are finished. It takes diligence to nurture because zeal may run out after a while. I simply want to encourage you guys to not just be planters but to also be nurturers. For some you may need to nurture your family relationships, your health journey, your academics etc. With that being said, re branding my YouTube channel will be on hold for a while because I believe the Lord wants me to hold off on planting that seed and to focus on nurturing this one. I will still be switching to bi-weekly posts starting in June. What is the Lord calling you to nurture in this season?
